Sogan Dolma - Another Balkan Country gets another stuffed veggie, this time one of our favourites - onions.
It's actually fairly tragic that we only spent a day in Bosnia too, a road trip to stunning Mostar from Dubrovnik (before it was too cool). We found really cheap, local car hire and thought we should take advantage so looked up close places in Bosnia to visit and Mostar was a must. That bridge, the river, the old town and Turkish influences - dream. I still have and use my Turkish coffee maker-cum-Bosnian-souvenir.
The Challenge: Sogan Dolma aka stuffed onions - Because stuffed peppers were such a success and this promised more flavour and a laugh fiddling with slimy onions.
We had lunch in Mostar, set back from the old bridge, a simple meal of Cevapi on rice with salad but man did those little meat kofte have a lot of flavour. This challenge was going to include all that flavour and more in the stuffing, our expectations were high and we were not disappointed.
