Káposztás Tészta - A kind of stir-fried stew this is one heck of a "comfort" food and turns out to be super easy to make.
If you've never been to Hungary you really should fix that. Even if you pop over to Budapest for a few days to explore the city and try as much local food as you can I promise you, your life will be better for it. I cannot recommend the Budapest Christmas markets enough, rarely do they top the list of "top 10 xmas markets" but if like us, you go to these for the food, Budapest is where it's at. Though you will find equally amazing food throughout the country, whether you stop in another city like Szeged or a tiny town 90mins drive from anywhere.
The Challenge: Káposztás Tészta - Because our mother is Hungarian, instilled a love of Hungarian food in us since forever and we were running out of ideas.
This challenge was harder than we initially expected. Having been to Hungary a few times, to many different places, and sometimes with Hungarian speakers, we thought we'd think of something relatively easily. In reality, we asked ourselves what's iconic? Goulash, pörkölt, csirkepaprikás, various soups and even pancakes. All things we love and have family recipes for and therefore wouldn't be challenging. Then our mother mentioned a childhood favourite that she never made for us (as far as I recall) and though simple we went with it - though Nah Leaps made "hobos" aka Non-Plus Ultra biscuits as a bonus.
